Here’s one of Gregory Thielker’s paintings; note how it apes the photographic effect you get when you use a large aperture and focus closely on the raindrops on a window, throwing the background out of focus. I’ve probably taken hundreds of photos like this and none of them are as good as this painting. Go figure.
